A legal framework has been adopted that allows the use of pornographic images and videos by Filipinos.
Filipino pornography was already legal in some form until the Supreme Court ruled in 2016 that it was a crime to show such material.
The Philippine Supreme Court’s ruling allowed for its use on the internet.
“The new regulation on pornographic images, videos and other visual depictions of children under 15 years of age is very positive,” Philippine Attorney General Sonny Angara said on Monday.
“This will make it easier for our young people to access these materials.
It will also provide a much-needed income for our government.”
The ruling came after an online petition by Filipinas with children.
The petition said it was not legal for Filipinos to distribute pornography on the Internet because it would “dehumanise children”.
The Philippines has a population of about 70 million.
