The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Kerala Government to conduct an inquiry into the alleged illegal treatment of an elderly woman in the state.
In its order, the court directed the Chief Minister to submit an interim report on the treatment of the woman in detention, after which the State Government will submit a report on its findings.
It directed the State Police to submit a final report within three days, in the matter.
The report will be submitted to the Governor, the Chief Justice of Kerala, and the State High Court for their approval.
The order was passed by a three-judge bench comprising Justice P N Venkatachalam and Justice R G Bhagat.
